February (the month of love) ...
February is the month in which we celebrate Valentine’s Day. Some folks say its creation was only to sell chocolates, adorable stuffed animals, candied hearts, “Valentines,” and … yes … engagement rings.
This is a month in which a lot of young-and-in-loves get married. Hokey by some measures, but I will admit that this month holds my anniversary as well. This year, the “huggy hubby” and I will celebrate 36 years of wedded bliss.
Okay. We’ll celebrate 36 years of marriage. It hasn’t always been blissful. But I can honestly say that I have no regrets.
Now before you go thinking we married on Valentine’s Day—hold up. We didn’t. We married on the 15th—mainly because we married at the preacher’s house, in the coziness of the living room, with our two best friends in attendance, the pastor’s wife standing next to a small table of punch and cookies, and two young girls (the daughter of our friends and her friend who, I suppose, wanted to see two young-and-in-loves say their vows).
Dennis said his vows. I giggled all the way through mine. I’m still not sure we’re legally married.
This month I’ll tell you more about our history with love. (Not mine and Dennis’s, but ours as humans.) I’ll share a few love stories, some trivia, and a couple of poems you can woo your own loved one with.
Happy Anniversary, “Dees Everly” …
